Recent Safety Toy Recalls in the U.S.

Children love toys, and the toy industry is big business in the US. While many products are fully safe for kids of all ages, a lot of unsafe or dangerous toys also make it into the market. Choking hazards, dangerous chemicals or materials, and electrical hazards are just some of the risks your child might be exposed to when it comes to poorly-made products.

To highlight how dangerous some of these toys could be, we’re reviewing the latest toy recalls in the U. S. Remember that these are just the toys that were recalled! In our experience as product liability attorneys, plenty of questionable products make it into the market without a hitch.

That said, here are the three most recent toy recalls as listed on the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

“Little Live Pet” Toy Frog - Moose Toys

These cute toy frogs come in many colors, but they also hide a dangerous flaw: when a child opens up the battery compartment, there is a chance that the cap on the battery can shoot off like a projectile, and the battery chemicals could leak. Consumers were advised to avoid opening the battery compartment and immediately contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

“Hatch & Grow” Easter Egg - Target

This type of toy is means to be submerged in liquid, where it rapidly expands. This same feature can prove to be a huge risk if a child ingests it, as it can expand inside their body and lead to discomfort, vomiting, and intestinal issues. Some of these complications are potentially life-threatening.

Janod French Cocette Cooker Trolley - Juratoys

This colorful toy trolley is designed to look like a stove, and even features eggs being cooked on frying pans along with other details. Unfortunately, a defect in its design means that it can tip backwards easily, which could potentially lead to serious impact injuries. Consumers were advised to immediately stop using the toy and reach out to the manufacturer for a repair kit.
